Workshop questions, answered
Are these workshops a sales pitch?
No, and the distinction is regulated, not just promised. Under CMS's Medicare marketing rules, an educational event must be advertised as educational and can't be used to steer you into a specific plan — so at our workshops and in the on-demand class we teach how Medicare works, we don't present specific plans' benefits or premiums, and we don't take enrollment applications in the room. If you want individual help afterward, you schedule a separate appointment — that's your choice to make, on your own time.
What does a workshop cost, and who can request one?
Nothing, for anyone. Community groups, libraries, senior centers, churches, HR departments with employees approaching 65 — any group on Colorado's Western Slope or in Utah can request a session, in person or by video. Brian Penner is an independent licensed agent compensated by insurance carriers when someone later chooses to enroll in a plan; education sessions themselves carry no cost and no obligation, and most attendees never become clients. That's fine — the point is fewer people making penalty mistakes.
What are Medicare Mondays in Monticello?
Starting September 1, 2026, our Monticello office at 65 S Main St is staffed every Monday from 9:00am to 2:00pm — a standing weekly window for San Juan County. No appointment is required to walk in, but booking a time on our Monticello page guarantees you a slot and lets us prepare if you send your questions ahead. The rest of the week the office is by appointment; call (435) 260-3200.
