Hospital Indemnity Insurance
Hospital indemnity insurance pays you a fixed cash benefit for covered hospital stays, which you can use for the daily copays a Medicare Advantage plan charges — plus travel, meals, or anything else. It's a popular, affordable way to soften the out-of-pocket exposure of an Advantage plan without switching to a more expensive Medigap plan.
How it works
You pick a benefit amount, and the policy pays you a set cash amount per day (or per admission) for covered hospital or skilled-nursing stays. The money comes to you, not the hospital, so you can use it however you need — copays, a spouse's travel, or household bills while you recover.
Who it's for
If your Medicare Advantage plan charges per-day hospital copays (many do for the first several days), a hospital indemnity policy can offset that exposure for a modest premium. It's especially popular with clients who want Advantage's low premiums but worry about a big hospital bill.
How it fits your plan
We look at your Advantage plan's inpatient copay structure and your budget, then decide whether a hospital indemnity policy — or a different plan or Medigap — is the smarter way to cap your risk. Sometimes it is; sometimes it isn't, and we'll tell you straight.

Questions, answered
How is hospital indemnity different from Medigap?
Medigap pays providers for Original Medicare's gaps. Hospital indemnity pays YOU a set cash amount for covered stays — it's most often paired with a Medicare Advantage plan to offset per-day copays.
Is hospital indemnity insurance worth it?
It can be, if your Advantage plan has meaningful hospital copays and you want to cap that risk affordably. We compare the premium against your plan's exposure before recommending it.
Can I get it with any Medicare plan?
It's most useful alongside a Medicare Advantage plan. We help you decide whether it adds value for your specific plan and budget.
